Abstract

The oral cavity is not a usual site for metastasis including about one percent of all oral tumors. Metastatic papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is uncommon and usually occurs in regional lymph nodes of neck, so mandibular metastasis is a rare event. We present a case with swelling in the right mandible that has been diagnosed metastatic tumor of PTC. The clinical features, radiographic aspect and treatment plan are discussed. Furthermore, a thorough review of literature revealed 77 published cases of metastatic thyroid carcinoma to the oral cavity with their summarized features. © 2019 Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
