Abstract

Necrophagous flies have a great role in their ecosystems where they are in a highly competitive situation with each other and in struggling with geographical conditions of their localities. Biodiversity indices can show the structure of target taxa in its community. There are no new studies on diversity of necrophagous flies in Oriental biogeographical zone of Iran, south-east of Iran. This study was proposed to the survey species richness and biodiversity of necrophagous flies in that area. Monthly sampling process was done in 24 sites of eight villages of Khash and Iranshahr counties by bottle trap. Species richness, Simpson, Shannon-Wiener, evenness and rarity were calculated. The Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. As much as 6283 adult flies of 28 species were trapped, including 3890 and 2393, respectively. Calliphoridae and Sarcophagidae were dominant in Khash and Iranshahr, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that there isn’t any change in biodiversity indices of fly community in Khash as well as in Iranshahr. Ravinia pernix and Wohlfahrtia trina were rare species, Calliphora vicina was the dominant species in all samples. The study of diversity of necrophagous flies should be continued in other parts of this region, especially in borderlines. © 2017 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
