Abstract

Superamphiphobic surfaces, characterized by extreme water and oil repellency, have a broad perspective for self-cleaning and antifouling applications. This chapter provides an overview of the progress and prospects of superamphiphobic surfaces in addressing the challenges of maintaining cleanliness and preventing fouling in various environments. The discussion begins by emphasizing the importance of surface roughness and low surface energy. Then, applications of superamphiphobic surfaces in self-cleaning and antifouling scenarios, such as solar panels, marine equipment, and consumer electronic devices, where the ability to repel dirt, dust, and organic contaminants is essential for maintaining optimal performance, will be explored. Overall, this chapter underscores the multifaceted potential of superamphiphobic surfaces for self-cleaning and antifouling applications and provides insights into their current status and prospects across diverse fields. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
