Abstract

Due to the impact of acne scars on the quality of life of the patients and the high prevalence of acne, interventions for improving these scars are of great value. One of the most effective interventions used in treating acne scars, especially in higher skin phototypes, is subcision. Subcision can be used in the treatment of different scars and is most effective in rolling acne scars. It is used to free the tethering fibrous bands that cause rolling scars while the controlled injury to underlying connective tissue stimulates the connective tissue formation beneath the scar. The exact steps and important facts to be considered in this procedure are reviewed in the presenting chapter. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
