Abstract

Cyanogen chloride, at room temperature, is a colorless gas with a pungent, biting, pepper-like odor. It is a highly volatile and toxic asphyxiant that interferes with the body's ability to use oxygen; therefore, exposure to cyanogen chloride can be fatal. Cyanogen chloride has a strong choking effect and severely irritates the eyes, nose, skin, and airways. It is metabolized to cyanide in the body and causes cyanide poisoning which is fatal and could cause long-term effects. Knowing the clinical features of cyanide poisoning and how to manage it are very crucial in order to help the patients. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
