Abstract

Myxoma is a common primary benign cardiac tumor that typically occurs in middle age. It is usually single and frequently found in the left atrium, particularly attached to the interatrial septum. An atrial septal defect (ASD) is a congenital defect, and myxomas often involve the interatrial septum. Therefore, the coexistence of these two conditions, especially when myxomas are multiple, is rare. We present a middle-aged man with a secundum-type ASD and two myxomas located in the right atrium and left ventricle, which were discovered incidentally. This implies that, in patients with one or multiple myxomas, it is essential to consider the potential presence of an ASD when searching for myxomas in the cardiac chambers. © 2026 Journal of Cardiovascular Echography.
