Abstract

The pharmaceutical agents and the chemical molecules affecting the cardiovascular system are among the most important therapies available for healthcare teams. This chapter deals with different agents including vasoactive agents, inotropes, antihypertensive agents, diuretics, adrenoceptor blockers, drugs used in pulmonary hypertension, antiarrhythmic agents, analgesics, sedatives and anesthetic drugs, drugs for pediatric delirium, stress ulcer prevention and treatment, anticoagulation and thrombolysis drugs, blood products, and antibiotics used for surgical patients. The approach used in this chapter is discussion of the drugs with their doses and their main clinical considerations; however, citing to specific chapters of the book has been made whenever applicable. In summary, a “concise cookbook of cardiovascular pharmacology” has been prepared in this chapter. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2017.
