Abstract

Naturally derived and synthetic cationic polymers have been widely studied for their potential applications in biomedicine. These polymers carry positive charges in their backbone or side chains. Positive charge provides cationic polymers unique physico-chemical, biological and antimicrobial properties. These properties make them an excellent candidate for different applications, such as drug conjugation and delivery, tissue engineering and therapeutic applications. In this chapter, various types of cationic polymers, as well as their chemical structure, properties and biomedical applications are discussed in details. © 2020 Walter de Gruyter GmbH, Berlin/Boston.
