Abstract

4H-benzo[b]pyrans were obtained rapidly in high yields using triethanolamine as an efficient, eco-friendly and low-cost basic catalyst. One-pot three-component condensation reaction of a series of aldehydes, malononitrile and 1,3-diketones was performed at room temperature. All the products were obtained in high-to-excellent yields and characterized in detail. Green, rapid and mild process, very short reaction times (1–12 min) and simple workup are some of the advantages of this method. © 2020, Springer Nature B.V.
