Avermectins are a group of naturally sourced or synthetic compounds used mainly to control nematodes, ticks, mites, lice, grubs in domestic animals and humans. The avermectin derivatives include ivermectin, abamectin, doramectin, eprinomectin, nemadectin, moxidectin, selamectin, and milbemcycin. Ivermectin is the most widely used avermectin derivative. The mechanism of action, toxicity, acceptable daily intake, and maximum residue level have been discussed in this entry. © 2024 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
