Abstract

Abstract: The present paper analyzes the tensile modulus in a toughened ternarynanocomposite containing a thermoplastic, an elastomer and nanoclay. Theunsuitable predictions by simple models reveal the effect of various parameterson the modulus of nanocomposites such as the size and shape of nanofiller andthe characteristics of interphase section. Therefore, the effect of interphaseis taken into account and three dimensional (3D) and random orientation ofnanoclay are assumed in Halpin–Tsai model. In addition, many models includingGuth, MROM, Halpin–Tsai, Kerner–Nielsen and Kerner are developed for the presentsystem. © 2021, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
