Abstract

Hydrocephalus has rarely been reported to be associated with trigeminal neuralgia. Here we report for the first time a case of trigeminal neuralgia associated with hydrocephalus, whose symptoms completely resolved twice after ventriculoperitoneal shunting. The patient had a high-voltage electric shock to his head, which has not been reported in a patient with ventriculoperitoneal shunt to the best of our knowledge. The possible underlying mechanism of this situation is discussed in addition to a brief review of the literature. © 2017 The Neurosurgical Foundation.
