Abstract

Cancer patients suffer from many physical, psychological, and social problems that may impede quality of life and reduce the impact of treatment. Researchers have concluded that in addition to focusing on the treatment of the disease in the form of drugs and chemotherapy, factors such as the physical environment, communication skills of physicians and nurses with patients, increased hope, quality of life, knowledge of the disease, causing the immune system of patients with cancer is be strengthened. The influential role of therapeutic places can be effective in the outcome and treatment of adolescents and children with cancer. Also, due to the direct relationship between the nurses and the patients being treated, they need to have behaviors that make patients comfortable. The process of treating cancer patients may be affected by various factors such as hospital architecture, computer games, and nurses' behavior. Hence, this paper attempts to offer a model for assessing the effect of hospital architecture, computer games, and nurses’ behavior on the effectiveness of the treatment process of adolescent cancer patients. The research method is based on structural equation modeling. This method has been used to assess the causal model, to confirm the reliability, and to validate the model. The results showed that hospital architecture, computer games, and nurses' behavior have a positive effect on the effectiveness of the treatment process in adolescent cancer patients. © 2020, Springer-Verlag GmbH Austria, part of Springer Nature.
