Abstract

Corneal transplantation is the most common and successful transplantation worldwide. Penetrating keratoplasty, a procedure with a long history exceeding a century, has been the main treatment for corneal diseases causing vision loss. Nowadays, anterior lamellar keratoplasty and endothelial keratoplasty are increasingly favored over penetrating keratoplasty (PK) in the management of corneal diseases because of fewer complications and faster visual recovery.1, 2 © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Mehrdad Mohammadpour and Masoud Khorrami-Nejad; individual chapters, the contributors.
